Description

Concord Academy, an independent, co-educational boarding and day school renowned for its world-class faculty, passionate students, and graduates who make their mark on the world, seeks to fill a full time opening for a Director of Enrollment Management for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Founded in 1922, Concord Academy (CA) has long balanced high academic standards with a focus on educating the whole student through academics, the arts, athletics, and cultural opportunities. Self-expression, storytelling, and careful listening are hallmarks of the Concord Academy experience. We actively seek applicants who reflect and support our mission-driven commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse and equitable school community. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong desire to incorporate inclusive practices and advance the tenets of the school's mission.

The Director of Enrollment Management is principally responsible for guiding the achievement of the school's long-term and short-term enrollment goals and overseeing all aspects of admissions, domestic and international recruitment, boarding and day enrollment, retention of current families, and the financial aid process. From inquiry to enrollment and re-enrollment, the Director is responsible for and accountable to a data-informed, mission-aligned approach. The Director is the primary strategist for the robust, mission-appropriate enrollment of students in grades 9-12. The Director of Enrollment Management facilitates enrollment management discussions and manages the admissions office’s seven full and part-time staff. Reporting directly to the Associate Head of School and, as part of the Chamberlain Leadership Council, the Director works closely with the CFO, Director of Marketing and Communications, and other school leaders to fulfill the mission, vision, and brand of the school.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic enrollment plan to differentiate the school’s unique brand and position in the market.
  • Cultivate an inclusive recruitment and retention process that focuses on yielding a diverse applicant pool and ultimately a diverse student body.
  • Create a relational, culturally competent, high-touch follow-up system to steward prospective families through the enrollment process.
  • Partner with the Director of Marketing and Communications, Associate Head of School, and Head of School to articulate and promote the school's brand and to develop a marketing and communications plan for recruitment of our boarding and day programs domestically and internationally.
  • Collaborate with the Head of School, Board of Trustees, Chief Financial Officer, and other school leaders to assess optimal school size and student body composition, define and articulate the profiles of mission-appropriate students, and engage in constituent relations internally and externally to support the school strategic goals and direction.
  • Lead boarding enrollment enhancement strategy and implement a plan to ensure full boarding enrollment that reflects a diversity of international and domestic students with a focus on expanding the number of states that the school enrolls students domestically. Explore opportunities to diversify new countries for our boarding program.
  • Advise Head of School and Board of Trustees on external market trends and trends in independent schools to ensure informed decision-making and strategic planning for short-term and long-term enrollment.
  • Collect and communicate admissions and enrollment data; maintain statistics regarding inquiries, visits, applications, diversity, and enrollment. Present regular reports to the Board of Trustees and report school enrollment and annual statistics to appropriate agencies and associations.
  • Represent the school locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally among networks and associations relevant to the admissions enrollment.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the admission staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (master’s degree strongly preferred)
  • A minimum of seven years of admissions and financial aid leadership experience
  • Ability to think critically, creatively, and strategically
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, and managerial skills
  • Warmth and a sense of humor as well as high energy, flexibility, and a collaborative style
  • Experience with research, data collection, and analysis
  • Outstanding communications skills, both written and spoken
  • An intuitive understanding of data and proficiency in technology that supports the enrollment process such as Ravenna
  • A strong commitment to the school’s mission, culture and to be a member of the day/boarding school community
  • Experience working with international populations in an enrollment context preferred
  • Candidates must pass a criminal record check
  • Ability to traverse the CA campus including climbing stairs
