The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) raises funds to enhance mental heath and addictions recovery through research and innovation, education and care. We strive to enhance and transform mental healthcare through philanthropy. Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Philanthropy, the Associate Director will manage a full portfolio of prospects and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic fundraising activities to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward new and existing donors. The focus of this role will be assessing and adding new donor opportunities, as well as building relationships with existing donors, generating revenue through individual, corporate, and planned giving, soliciting sponsorships, and qualifying granting opportunities.

The Associate Director, Philanthropy will be encouraged to explore and propose new approaches and initiatives to increase support for the Foundation’s priorities, and to embrace the mission, vision, and values of the Foundation. They will be expected to work closely with all team members to succeed in a collaborative, focused approach.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serving as an ambassador for the Mental Health Foundation, consistently and convincingly demonstrating the role and importance of philanthropic
  • Planning, developing, and implementing individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies for prospects and donors.
  • Identifying prospects and establishing goals in consultation with the Director of
  • Attending and participating in regular prospecting meetings to discuss, plan and track prospect assignment strategies.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising
  • Preparing meeting briefing notes, solicitation plans, stewardship updates and Trip
  • Writing and editing materials including cases for support, tailored proposals, progress reports and prospect correspondence.
  • Maintaining detailed records of contact with donors and prospects in the donor information system (Raisers Edge NXT).
  • Focusing on areas of development and working with the Director of Philanthropy on specific training programs to develop and sharpen skill
  • Travel will be required, and the successful candidate must be willing to be on the road for multiple days at a time.
  • Embracing the hybrid working The successful candidate will have experience working remotely and excels within both home office and in office environments.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and
  • Five to ten years of experience in a front-line fundraising role (or related).
  • A proven track record of cultivating and securing major gifts (four to six figures).
  • Approachable, self-motivated and accountable, with exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills. Tact, diplomacy and excellent presentation skills are also
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in an open, cross-functional team
  • Willing to jump in with other team members and collaborate to achieve overall organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work in a results-oriented team environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to plan and prioritize tasks to achieve
  • Demonstrated MS Office, database, and spreadsheet programs
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, particularly concerning confidential
  • Familiarity with the health care environment, specifically, addiction and mental health, is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with good driving record (abstract) and reliable vehicle is required. Some travel within the province will be required. A clean background check must be successfully completed to work with children and vulnerable
  • Candidates will have the ability to work remotely and will be required to maintain consistent in-office time that aligns with team
