GAIN Power is an intersectional community connected along issues, identities, skills, experiences, and geography, aligning around values and progressive movement work.
Our platforms now host 100,000+ activists and 5,000+ employers across all 50 states. Employers include candidate campaigns, political consulting businesses, vendors, party committees, government, official elected offices, and progressive media sites. All are dedicated to impacting democracy, electoral campaigns, legislative advocacy, and government to bring about social, political, and economic change since we launched in 2020.
GAIN Power organizational users include democracy and voting-focused nonprofits, Democratic candidates and party committees, nonprofit advocacy, progressive consulting firms, government offices, and elected officials. GAIN POWER offers this career center, marketing and professional development events, awards, collaborative programs, stories, and unique content about the people and organizations leading our movements.
This is a new position and a first for GAIN Power. The Executive Director of GAIN Power will oversee the organization's overall strategic and operational responsibility, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. You will possess a deep knowledge of the political landscape, a passion for progressive causes, and extensive leadership experience. We seek a creative, entrepreneurial, advanced professional who can grow the organization.

The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a demonstrated commitment to the progressive movement and the talent that powers it. Excellent communication skills, a track record of managing and inspiring teams, and a keen understanding of political campaign dynamics are essential.

- Financial management. Basic understanding of QuickBooks and financial reporting.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Fundraising - GAIN Power is a social enterprise organized as an LLC that raises money from membership, sponsorships, events, and donations. This job is responsible for raising the budget, including salaries of staff, including the Executive director
- Developing and growing new and existing revenue streams along with the COO.
- Updating and implementing strategic plans that meet the organization's vision and objectives.
- Program management: Overseeing GAIN Powers' core programs, including home site management, career center, virtual career fairs, talent table, Powerful IDEA Awards, and Expos.
- Launching the c-3 program at Global GAIN.
- Managing, coaching, and developing staff and consulting team.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key political and community figures.
- Ensuring the financial performance and growth of the organization.
- Representing the organization at networking events and public speaking engagements.
- Developing organizational partnerships with leading progressive organizations.
- Oversee outbound communications, including digital program and editorial content.
- Working with the President to optimize her time on high-level partnerships.
- Thought leadership. The Executive Director should be a vocal and representative voice for the progressive movement, especially for its talent, and look for opportunities to share your voice through social and traditional media.
- Content creation/management: responsible for the email writing, social posts, and content to be distributed and shared on our platforms.
Experience: Minimum of 3-4 cycles of political, electoral campaign, or legislative advocacy work, including at least one as the top staff person who managed consultants and staff.
This is a fully remote position, and we're open to candidates anywhere in the U.S. but may have some bias towards DMV area applicants.
Applicants will be reviewed starting December 6th and continue on a rolling basis until the position is filled. We'll also interview applicants during the virtual career fair.
