Description
Overall position responsibilities: The Math Specialist provides one-on-one tutoring for high school math students, usually in Alegra 1 and 2, Geometry, and Calculus. This position reports directly to the Tutoring Director. The Math Specialist must provide availability three nights a week from Monday to Friday. At least one night a week must be in person. In-person tutoring hours are typically 3:30pm-7:30pm. Virtual tutoring hours are flexible and can also take place on the weekend if needed.
Primary duties:
- Provide one hour a week of individual tutoring with high school math students as assigned.
- Communicate with the students and their families to assess needs and to confirm and/or reschedule tutoring sessions as needed.
- Create lesson plans to meet the individual needs of each student.
- Maintain regular communication with the Tutoring Director and collaborate to address tutoring-related issues as they arise.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
Must have experience teaching/tutoring with a strong background in upper-level math.
Must have strong organizational skills, as well as both written and verbal communication skills.
Must be 18 years or older and pass a background check.
